 | News by Andy Allan 24 Aug 02:37 Yes, ColdFusion's Product Manager, Jason Delmore is finally blogging. 11 Aug 19:02 So, after getting my server back up and running, and upgraded to ColdFusion 8, what did I forget to do? Well, I forgot to enable the Search Engine Safe (SES) URL mapping in ColdFusion's web.xml file. By default this mapping is disabled because it's not supported by all J2EE engines (Tomcat and SunONE), as they don't support wildcard mappings. You can find the appropriate mappings in: <jrun>/servers/<instance>/cfusion.ear/cfusion.war/WEB-INF/web. 11 Aug 06:51 Not much else to say ... 2 Aug 05:30 With all the current talk and unjustified complaints over the pricing of ColdFusion Enterprise, and folks moaning about the conversation rate to their local currency, I thought I would make a few comments about this. First, ColdFusion Enterprise is Enterprise level software. $3,750 per CPU ($7,500 for a 2 CPU license) is nothing short of a steal. Seriously, go check out pricing of other Enterprise level software, then come back to me and tell me that ColdFusion isn't a bargain. 31 Jul 05:00 As the whole world now knows, ColdFusion 8 was set loose to the world today ... except in the UK. Yes, here in the UK if you visit the ColdFusion section of http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/coldfusion/ we're still using ColdFusion 7. I have a list the length of the River Nile as to why Adobe UK are the most incompetent bunch of idiots the world has ever know, and now I can add another reason. 20 Jul 20:30 Out of curiosity, I decided to dump the client project I'm working on just now into the current Railo 2 Release Candidate. We're currently developing on CF7.0.2 and using SQL Server 2005 as the database. So, what was the prognosis? No code changes were required. It just worked. It's about 3 times as fast on Railo. No scientific numbers for you. It's just that when I reinit the app, I can usually get up, walk round the office, and when I sit down again, the app is now being served up. 18 Jul 21:45 I'm quite heavy handed when it comes to commenting my code. As well as inline comments, I always have a config comment at the top of every file. In addition to basic information such as Author, Filename, when the file was created, I use Subversion to get information such as: the current revision, when was the file last updated, who updated the last file. To automate the process, I have a CFEclipse snippet that is saved as a template (require separate ones for both CFM and CFC files). 18 Jul 04:30 Web Developer and E-Learning Officer The Management School & Economics are about to undertake a major redevelopment of the School's web site, and are looking for an expert web developer to become part of their 3 strong web team. A dynamic and engaging web presence is essential to attract the very best students to our high quality programmes, and to forge and strengthen our links with the corporate community. 13 Jul 22:03 OK, call me sad, but I created a couple of tshirts based on Ashwin Mathews scorpio drawing and handed them to Tim Buntel when he was at Scotch on the Rocks back in May. And now I see they have been framed in history on Damon Cooper's CF8 Non Tour photo gallery. 13 Jul 21:05 It's taken a while, but my gumph from Adobe is finally through, and I can now officially say I'm an Adobe Certified Instructor for ColdFusion. Yesterday was a good day, because as well as my ACI status coming through, my company Fuzzy Orange, also recieved Adobe Solution Partner status. | | | |
