 | 21 Jun 23:24 I was asked this a few times, but what is the official supported browser list for ColdFusion 8 Ajax support. I kept telling people to check the Developer's Guide, but it isn't there. You have to look in the CF8 Release Notes. From that: To use ColdFusion AJAX features, you must have one of the following browsers: *Firefox 1.5 and later *Internet Explorer 6 and later *Safari 2.0 and later I had thought IE5 would work as well, but I was wrong. Note that 8.0. 21 Jun 20:55 Shane asks: Appreciate all your posts on the isapi URL rewrite component however I am unable to find any information online pertaining to what I want to do with it. I'd like to accomplish the http://www.site.com/user URL which myspace and flickr have. where /user would be user.cfm?user=shane or whatever. I'd rather avoid using the onMissingTemplate hack and use the rewriter for this, I've been fiddling for a while. 21 Jun 06:00 I just sat through "Internals of the Adobe ColdFusion Server" by Eliot Sprehn. This was probably the most fascinating class I've taken at cfunited. Eliot talked about - well - everything behind the scenes of your ColdFusion code. This included some rather interesting information about why certain operations are slow. I'll also say that he has convinced me that 'cheating' (ie, using hidden methods of these internal CF objects) is not as bad as I had thought. 21 Jun 03:50 I just pushed up an update to Seeker, my ColdFusion Lucene project. I added support for MS Word documents and MS Excel files. This was incredibly easy using JavaLoader from Mark Mandel and the POI project. 20 Jun 05:05 A little bit ago I sat in the session "End to End Performance Tuning", which was a great session. One of the tips mentioned was the use of trusted cache on production systems. One of the problems with this though is that you need to clear the template cache for each and every little change. What folks tend to forget is that the Admin API has support to clear individual files. I blogged about this last year (at CFUN I think) and wrote up a quick little script to show an example of it. 19 Jun 23:50 Sorry for the delay in getting this out, but here are the slides and code from my presentations yesterday. My Saturday presentation is a repeat so I won't be reposting. 19 Jun 21:07 Unfortunately I don't have any screen shots, but the coolest thing I've seen so far at CFUNITED is the new product coming out from the Fusion Reactor guys. The product is called (and I should stress that as I don't have the product in front of me I w... 19 Jun 12:00 Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone who showed up for the SciFi Birds of a Feather. I know it was quite a ways away from the conference center, and literally quite deep in the Earth, so I really appreciate you making the trek. Almost ev... 18 Jun 23:13 I just noticed that the SciFi BOF tonight (8:30PM) is not in the conference center but will be at the hotel instead. The location is the Lafayette Room on the lower level. (Which I've never been to so this should be fun! 18 Jun 21:36 Welcome to CFUNITED 08. I'm going to be taking notes during the opening keynote, so please be sure to reload this entry for updates. Right now Michael Smith is speaking about the various things we can do to improve our applications. Adobe will be up in a few minutes and I'll do more frequent updates then. | | |
