I had an interesting conversation today with Josh Knutson. He noticed that the getInfo action of CFPDF did not return either the page orientation (landscape versus portrait). Nor does it say anything about the page size. He needed to put a watermark in a PDF but the position depended on the orientation of the PDF.

I don't normally blog about SpoolMail, but this is a pretty significant update. Mek Logan sent in a set of updates that dramatically improve the speed. I tested with 666 emails (pure chance, I swear) and the difference before and after was dramatic. The main thing he changed was to stop parsing the body of emails when generating the list of emails. The body is now only parsed on view. Which makes perfect sense of course and I wish I had noticed it first. Anyway, grab the 1.

Via a cf-talk thread concerning the jerks doing all the sql injection attacks: On the plus side, it's nice to see CF finally getting the recognition it deserves, even if it is from parasitic bottom-feeding bots created by despicable scum-sucking feeble-excuse-for-a-carbon-based-life-form repugnant socially-inept basement-dwelling death-penalty-deserving hacker-wannabes. Cody asks: I have a date field that consists of three drop down menus. (1) Month; (2) Day; (3) Year. I assemble these by using CreateDate(yyyy,mm,dd), which works great. My question involves checking to make sure the values the user selects from the dropdowns are valid before the CreateDate() function is called.

Dave asks: I have a drill down chart application that allows users to look both at the big picture and drill down to the detail on the charts. Today (after the application has been running for over a year) the customer noticed that if they click on the legend it tried to go to the detail page. However it doesn't send the $ItemLabel (because they didn't click on a data item.) I looked in Webchart 3D to see if there were any options but don't see any for links.
