Ext Windows & Window Group

2 Feb 08:36
If you have many windows on a screen that you need to manage them as a group. Ext has a class called WindowGroup that does just that. Last night I added this to my cfExt project and I would like to show you what you can do with it. Here is a basic example that creates and shows 4 separate windows. You will notice that to use a window group you simply create the window group and then use that id as the group for each window. This will tell Ext for each window what group they belong to.

cfExt Form Additions

1 Feb 15:34
Earlier today I posted some examples of forms and how easy they are to create. I got a couple comments about radio buttons and more specifically radio groups. Out of the box Ext does not come packaged with any group functionality for radio buttons. Fortuantly for us a user by the name of Robert Williams created a nice extension for everyone to use. The radio group extension allows our form to act more like an HTML form would.

Ext Forms Using cfExt

1 Feb 08:26
I have been adding away whenever I get a chance and this library is starting to grow. Today I want to walk through on how I have implemented forms as well get your thoughts on a couple of things. If you skip to the bottom there is a link to the live example of what I am talking about in this article. If you have been reading my examples up until now then you know the base of our application is the ext:application tag. This is an example of a very basic form.

cfext Layouts

25 Jan 04:38
I thought I would take a second to show you what I have been doing with the cfExt library. After taking a look at ExtTLD (really good work guys!) I realized that certain things were going to have to change to meet the big picture expectations. I talk to Justin Carter regularly and he has been doing some great work with the Ext framework as well. Using these two resources I started re writing how components would interact with each other.

Ext Growth

23 Jan 04:27
Rey Bango has posted a great article on the rise in popularity. He points out that one barometer of a projects growth is community acceptance and extensions that compliment the framework. Rey was kind enough to mention my work on cfExt in the article so thanks to him and If you have ever used ExtJS I suggest you check out the article. http://extjs.

ColdFusion 8 WACK Volume 1

23 Jan 01:40
A reader, we will call him Dave to protect his Identity :) was nice enough to grab something off my wish list for me. I am the proud new owner of Adobe ColdFusion 8 Web Application Construction Kit, Volume 1: Getting Started and could not be happier. I have been meaning to grab these books and this is a perfect start. Thanks again so much for your generosity! I will follow up with a review when I get it and I am able to sit down and read it.

PayPal IPN API Change?

26 Jun 10:24
Trying saying that title 5 times fast :). I have a customer that uses the PayPal IPN (Instant Payment Notification) service. The way the service works is pretty basic. A users places products in a cart on your site, when they are ready to place an order they are transfered to PayPal to place the order. When the order is complete you are transfered back to your shopping cart. So far so simple right? Up until about 2 weeks ago I would say yes.

I am officially envious of everyone heading to cfUnited this year. I have yet to make it to a conference and It would be really nice to meet all of you that I talk to on a daily/weekly basis. Most of you I do not even talk to but your articles and tutorials inspire and educate me. I need to start saving money for cfunited 08 so I do not have a similar post next year. Good luck to everyone presenting next week and I hope to see a bunch of posts on what is going on.

cfPayflowPro Alpha Release

21 Jun 22:04
I am happy to announce that I have finally got this code up to par for an alpha release. As the name implies this project is a wrapper for the Paypal Payflow Pro payment gateway. This article will help explain more about the payment gateway, the project itself and why I felt it was needed. What is Payflow Pro? If you have been developing for a few years then you may remember that the Payflow Pro gateway was once owned by Verisign.
