On Monday I was looking for a new domain name for a friend of mine and I searched and found all main extensions were available; .com, .net, .org. So I told my friend and early on Tuesday we went to purchase the .com and .net versions. To our surprise the .com version had been registered the day before and in Whois it was shown as client parked and registered by the largest most expensive registrar on Monday.

I am extremely honored to be able to say that I was chosen for the Adobe Community Experts (ACE) program. I am now the second Alagadian to become an ACE, Jared Rypka-Hauer was an ACE before joinin Alagad.

And when we're not doing that, we’re writing presentations and contributing to open source projects. Last year our company grew by 300%. We are on track for similar or better growth this year. Additionally, one of our primary competitors was listed on the INC500 fastest growing companies for 2007.

From time to time I have a need for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) work. It seems that a lot of small businesses out there have websites which get absolutely no traffic. From time to time I'll get a call or an email asking for help with this. This isn't a core competency for Alagad and it would be nice to have someone we can call in to help us. I've blogged quite a bit about the four day Model-Glue training program I'm holding in February in the DC metro area. However, as of yesterday it's official that Joe Rinehart will drop in on the last day to give an introduction to the upcomming Model-Glue 3 framework! This is very exciting! I hope to see you there! Also, the regestration deadline has been extended till January 25th so you have a bit more time to get your boss to let you register!

Well I always thought Aha from Norway were vastly underrated, they made and I am sure still make incredible music but that is not the focus of this blog piece. I am here in Heathrow Airport waiting to fly back to LA and am fired with all sorts of a-HA thoughts for 2008. It looks as I will be presenting at CFObjective on Clustering CF and JRun so I am excited about that. I have to acknowledge the trailblazers on that front though, Frank DeRienzo, Brandon Purcell, Steven Erat and Dave Gruber.

I was inspired to create this blog post by one I came across whilst researching SSL Acceleration in a Clustered environment. I will return to that subject later. That blog post postulated a coming Talent Crisis because it is no longer going to be adequate to simply know about the web server, application server, etc. I agree with the thrust of that article but I actually see it more as a Knowledge Crisis.

We have created two other articles so far which relate to the High Availability (HA) in web application environments. The first was an overall theoretical view of different levels of HA, from very basic to a more Enterprise level environment. The second article explored terminologies relating to Clustering, Load Balancing and Fail Over. In this article we will explore, in more detail, what is required to set up Clustering to serve Load Balancing needs.
