 | 19 Jan 08:23 Just finished ordering my new Dell XPS M1530 (I was able to resist my buddy Ray's insistence that I get a Mac everytime I talked to him about laptops). Here are the specs: XPS M1530 IntelĀ® Core" 2 Duo T7250 (2MB cache/2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB) Oper... 17 Jan 08:26 Was just trying to create a super simple dynamic region on a page when I repeatedly received the following error when I loaded the page: error:http: Error replacing HTML, element not found: comments I double check everything and my bind statement looks good. View Source however told me something different. CF correctly included the Ajax 'plumbing' bits to create the div and register it, but my div itself was not in the source. 17 Jan 05:20 Ajax can be a double-edged sword of sorts. If properly done our users should really have little or no clue that any 'magic' has happened. If overdone (or implemented needlessly - a phenomenon I like to call 'Because I Can...' or 'BIC') our users can be overwhelmed, and/or confused. One of the end goals of implementing an Ajax solution is to give our users an enhanced experience with our application - or at the very least keep them from being annoyed by the experience. 15 Jan 07:36 Others have blogged about the Adobe ColdFusion Features Survey, and I normally wouldn't chime in unless I had something to say about it. I just took the survey and got a bit tickled at a few of the questions. Particularly: #12 What kind of Audio/Video support would you want from ColdFusion? Add, Extract and edit Metadata Merge/Split/Extract audio/video clips Play video/audio given the source Personally I would love to see this. 10 Jan 03:05 For some reason my VPS seems to have been down for the 10 hours or so. Everything seems back to normal now. If you tried to take my survey and had problems I apologize. Everything should be good to go now. 9 Jan 15:00 I'm not a big 'resolution' guy but I do like to use the new year to focus my efforts and reflect on things I'm doing to an extent. I've just thrown together a very short (5 question) survey for the readers of my blog to get your opinion on the content here at cfsilence.com. If you don't mind, please take the survey. Please give your honest opinion - it's totally anonymous (but you can leave contact info if you would like to be contacted for any reason). 9 Jan 02:16 I'm working on a small project with some of the ColdFusion 8 Ajax magic and on a whim decided to try using cfajaxproxy in a 'creative' manner. Turns out it worked quite nicely. Here's my situation: In the past we would put our JavaScript calls inline on an HTML element (in an onClick event or some such) or we'd use the good old <a href="javascript:foo();"></a> method. 29 Dec 13:41 I don't usually cross-blog something, but Mark Kruger has an awesome post about his favorite tags. I wholeheartedly agree with his points and can't tell you how many times I've helped out folks who don't take full advantage of the awesome tags/tools he mentions. Check it out. 22 Dec 05:47 The votes have closed and have been tallied.
